Sprekers: “Koen Timmers was elected “Top 10 teacher in the world”. He initiated and supports a program called “the Innovation SDG Lab” which offers free education to African students.
“The Innovation SDG Lab” offers free education to African students using the new pedagogies for deep learning, focusing on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math) in an environment which stimulates authentic, technology enhanced and project based learning.
A global community of educators across 6 continents will offer free education via a video conferencing tool. The students will learn in an innovative way. The initiative is supported by the Jane Goodall institute and by partners including Skype and Lego Foundation. Koen also found innovative technical solutions, including a “solar suitcase” to supply electricity to their laptops equipped and internet connected classrooms.”
